Our History and Vision
Calvary Chapel of Norman was originally born out of a desire to teach people God’s word, so in 1993 we formed a church and began to do just that-teach people the Bible. From that teaching we’ve seen God over the years do many incredible things and only eternity will tell of all the fruit acquired from this endeavor. So, our purpose from the beginning has always been to teach or disciple people in their personal walk with the Lord.
Now in 2022 Calvary Chapel of Norman has a desire to take this purpose of teaching to start a school for grade school children and implement teaching and discipleship into their lives. As we believe the word of God has everything needed for life and godliness. In our culture and society, it seems that something is missing from education in general. Our purpose will be to instill godly characteristics in grade school children to help them accomplish what God has called them to do. Just as the Lord called Samuel in the Old Testament at a very young age, we feel that God speaks all the time, the question is are we listening.
Our values will continue to be that in everything we do, we bring glory to God. The children will be taught the value of giving glory to God and the fear of the Lord, as this is the beginning of wisdom. Having a reverence or respect, i.e. (fear of the Lord) for God’s things is essential to everything we do in this life.
Teaching the students to be Spirit led will be an essential part of their curriculum. “For all who are sons of God are led by the Spirit of God” (Romans 8:14) This is vital in your walk with the Lord personally.
We will also teach the students that they love one another and put one another's needs over their own as the Word of God instructs us. And finally teaching children to love Jesus with all their heart, mind, and strength.
Our goal is to start with 1st through 5th grade and then add to this as the Lord leads us. Our building needs will suffice in the beginning, and we will look to add grades and facilities as time goes on.
We will need like minded teachers and parents to come alongside us and help get this going, along with funds to get this work started.
